Man booked for harassing wife for dowry

Ludhiana: The women police station booked a man on charges of causing hurt and harassing his wife for dowry. An FIR has been lodged after an inquiry spanning over one and a half years. The FIR has been lodged against Naveen Kumar of Satkaar Nagar of Tibba road on the complaint of his wife Namita Rani. The woman said that she got married to the accused on December 1, 2017. Soon after the marriage, the accused started harassing her for money. She said that things worsened when she gave birth to a daughter on August 21, 2019. The accused, who wanted a son, allegedly started harassing her over petty issues and would also beat her. The accused also captured her videos while beating her up and threatened to post these online. Namita lodged a police complaint in June 2020 but a compromise was reached after counselling. Later, he again started beating her. On April 7, 2021 the accused brutally assaulted her and when her parents reached her home, the accused and his family attacked them. tnn
