KALYAN: A water pipeline burst at Hedutane on Badlapur -Dombivli pipeline road in Dombivli on Saturday morning and affected supply for few hours to parts of Thane, Navi Mumbai and Mira Bhayander.
The supply was affected after a trailer hit the pipeline around 3.30am, damaging a valve. Repairs were completed by 11.45am on Saturday.
The damaged pipeline led to flooding and caused traffic congestion on Badlapur-Dombivli road. Some parts of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation also did not get water supply for a few hours on Saturday morning.
The pipeline is owned by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). An MIDC official said after its maintenance staff received information they reached the spot and after lowering the pressure of water repaired the pipeline. The official said after the valve was fixed water supply resumed by lowering pressure, while at 6pm water supply resumed at full speed. The pipeline from Barave dam supplies water to Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mira Bhayandar. -Pradeep Gupta
