LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday formed a three-member judicial committee to probe the
killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad.The commission will be headed by Allahabad high court judge (retd) Arvind Kumar Tripathi, and will have two other members – retired judge Brijesh Kumar Soni and former DGP Subesh Kumar Singh.
The commission will give its report in two months. Principal secretary, home, Sanjay Prasad confirmed the constitution of the inquiry committee.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been keeping strict and consistent vigil on the entire case since the killing took place on Saturday night.
Earlier, the CM had jointly called the
Home Department, DGP and DG Special at his residence and held a high-level meeting on law and order, after which Section 144 was imposed in the state. Apart from this, the police started foot patrolling in various districts. In addition, heavy security forces were deployed in the sensitive areas of the state to maintain law and order.
An official said that the CM was keeping a strict vigil on the entire case since the killing took place on Saturday night.

Earlier, the CM jointly called the home department officials, DGP and DG Special at his residence for a high-level meeting on law and order, after which Section 144 was imposed in the state.
“Police has started foot patrolling in various districts. Heavy security force has been deployed in sensitive areas of the state to maintain law and order. The CM has instructed the officers to be vigilant in the field to ensure peace and order is maintained in the state,” an official said.

Senior officials said that Subesh Kumar Singh has also headed the Anti-Terrorist Squad and the special task force in the past.
During his stint as the Lucknow district police chief, Singh was a member of the core team of IPS officers who conceptualised the idea of a specialised force to combat organised crime in the state, which later took the shape of STF.
