Two shot dead at Rockingham County party

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY — Two people were shot to death around midnight at a party in Rockingham County, a press release said.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded early Saturday morning to a report of shots being fired on Newberry Lane at about midnight. Upon arrival, it was determined there had been a party at a residence and two males had been shot, the release said.

D’angleo Marquise Gracy, 22, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and a 17-year-old boy from Harrisonburg, both died at the scene.

The victims were not students at James Madison University, the release said.

Virginia State Police, along with police officers from JMU and Harrisonburg, responded to the shooting.

No arrests have been made, but the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office said there is no known reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

"At this time the incident appears to be an isolated one that stemmed from an incident at the party," the release said.
