Office employee booked for forging MLA’s signature
Ludhiana: Daba police arrested a woman working at the office of Ludhiana South MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina and a Giaspura man for cheating and forgery. The man had gone to the MLA’s office to get a recommendation letter for some work at the revenue office. Without informing the MLA, the woman worker issued a recommendation letter and also forged her signatures on the stamp.
The accused have been identified as Maninder Kaur of Gurpal Nagar and Ram Bakhsh of Garden Colony of Giaspura. An FIR has been lodged against the duo on the complaint of patwari (revenue officer) Jaminder Singh.
Jaminder, posted at a sub-registrar office in Lohara village, said, Ram Bakhash had come to his office with photocopies of registries of five properties, for getting it updated on the records of revenue department. He also produced a recommendation letter of MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina. On seeing MLA’s recommendation for five properties, he made a phone call to her just to cross-check it. The MLA denied sending any such recommendation and thus the matter came to the light.
Investigating officer sub-inspector Daljeet Singh said, “MLA Chhina herself got the matter enquired and found that one of the workers at her office, Maninder, had used the letter and forged her signatures. An FIR has been lodged against the accused duo under Sections 420 (punishment for cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine forged documents) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
