Haryana 1st state to procure 14 crops on MSP, says CM
Gurgaon: Haryana is the first state in the country to purchase 14 crops on the Minimum Support Price (MSP), chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Friday. Along with wheat and paddy, the government is also procuring oil seeds, bajra, moong and other food grains through 367 mandis.
Haryana is purchasing wheat, mustard, barley, gram, paddy, maize, bajra, cotton, sunflower, moong, peanut, tur, urad and sesame on MSP at present. Most states purchase a few popular crops like wheat, paddy, cotton and sugarcane on MSP.
Khattar, who is on a three-day visit to Palwal, assured farmers that compensation for crop loss due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm will be transferred into their bank accounts by the end of May. The state government is carrying out an assessment of crop loss, he said.
Listing out the schemes launched by the state government for the welfare of farmers, Khattar said special girdawari (inspection of crops) is being carried out for damaged crops. He was interacting with the public during a ‘Jan Samvad’ programme in Palwal’s Hodal.
The CM said Ayushman cards have been issued to 12,833 people in Hodal and 128 have availed of free medical treatment worth about Rs 26 lakh. Through Parivar Pehchan Patras, a total of 1,160 new ration cards have been issued, he said.
“The government is now automatically giving pension for people who cross 60 years of age. Pension has been granted automatically to 44 elderly people in Hodal so far,” Khattar added.
He also said the government is taking concrete steps to eliminate corruption. “The government is working in a transparent manner and employment opportunities are being made available to the qualified youth. Till now in Palwal, the present government has given employment to 2,866 youths. Out of this, 97 jobs have been given to the youths of Hodal,” said Khattar. The chief minister also announced Rs 2.5 crore for the development of the Hodal mandi.
