Coimbatore: A team of four students of Dr GRD College of Science in the city has successfully completed Kaifi Azmi Global-India Virtual Internship (KAVI), a collaborative programme involving the students of Dr GRD College of Science, Southampton University in England and the University of Western Australia.
K K Ramachandran, director, Dr GRD College of Science, said while the students of Dr GRD College and Southampton had been involved in the seven-week internship programme since 2020, the Western Australia joined the initiative only in 2022.
“The students, along with Uttar Pradesh-based NGO Mijwan Welfare Society, tried to address the livelihood issues faced by the unskilled and skilled labourers during the pandemic. The students were divided into four teams, which comprised a student from each institute. They collaborated virtually throughout the seven-week programme and came up with solutions that could be implemented,” he said.
The students who represented Dr GRD College of Science in the programme were B S Athmika, Ashwin V Nair, K Nishanthini and C Khanak Agarwal. While the internship programme commenced in October last year and concluded in November, they were handed over the certificates only recently.
