No peace talks till Russia leaves territory: Ukraine MP
Bhubaneswar: Ukrainian MP Yulia Klymenko, who attended the Youth 20 consultation meet here on Friday, said there is no possibility of holding peaceful negotiations until Russia leaves its territory and civilians in peace.
She said there is no reason to hold peace talks. “We see a lot of atrocities on Ukrainians. How can we start negotiations when they are killing people every day?” she asked.
Klymenko said they want the world to hear very simple things. “Ukraine is an independent country. We want to live in our country peacefully. We do not want somebody to enter our territory and kill civilians and kids. We do not want to be colonised by Russia,” she added.
She said they want Russia to get out of Ukraine. “They should leave us alone. We can make our country a better place again after Russia leaves. It is our message to the world. We do not need Russian territory. Russia has started this war and we did not have any option except protecting our civilians, territory and independence,” she added.
The Ukrainian lawmaker said they are not active in India because they do not have an ambassador. “It is our problem. I hope we will solve this and appoint an ambassador to India next month. Then we will talk to the Indian government and parliamentarians and politicians on different issues. We want to bring information and truth to the Indian people,” she added.
She said they are happy to cooperate with India. “India is the biggest democracy in the world. We have a lot of Indian people in Ukraine. We are happy to cooperate and be friends with India,” said Klymenko, whose son has married to a girl from Kerala.
