Lt general K S Brar takes charge as General Officer Commanding of Dakshin Bharat Area
Lieutenant General Brar lays a wreath on the War Memorial on the Rajaji Salai.
CHENNAI: Lieutenant general Karanbir Singh Brar took charge as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Dakshin Bharat Area, Chennai, on Saturday.
Soon after taking charge, Lieutenant General Brar laid a wreath on the War Memorial on the Rajaji Salai.
Lt Gen A Arun, who was GOC here, will join as Chief of Staff of the South Western Command, Jaipur.
K S Brar has a career spanning close to four decades in uniform, across varied operational areas and sectors including Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir. He has also served in a UN mission in South Sudan and an infantry division in the Western sector.
He has the distinction of being part of the team which took the first tank to Ladakh Sector way back in 1987 and also led a delegation to Bangladesh to conduct a joint Indo- Bangladesh seminar on UN peacekeeping. He is a recipient of AVSM. He was twice awarded COAS and GOC-in-C Eastern Command commendation cards.
