MC chief orders probe into ‘anomalies’ in regularisation
Ludhiana: Taking suo motu cognizance of a case wherein three employees of the Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) were booked in an attempt to murder case and “unclear” revelations were made regarding alleged anomalies in regularisation of contractual MC employees, MC commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal has marked an inquiry into the case.
All the three employees — sewer supervisor Brijpal, sewerman Ishu Saraswal and sewerman Ashok Kumar — have been suspended due to their alleged involvement in the criminal case and absence from duty.
The inquiry has been marked to MC joint commissioner Sonam Chaudhary.
The matter came to the fore after cops recently arrested Brijpal, Saraswal and Kumar in an attempt to murder case. During the inquiry, the police allegedly revealed that Brijpal and others were involved in anomalies in regularisation of MC employees.
MC commissioner Dr Aggarwal said if any anomalies are found in the entire process, strict action will be taken against the persons involved.
She said orders have also been issued to officials concerned of different branches to regularly pursue the case wherein show-cause notices, chargesheets and inquiries are marked against civic body employees/officials. They have been directed to submit a monthly report of the ongoing inquiries so that timely decisions could be taken in the cases.
She said the officials concerned have also been directed to properly pursue cases wherein FIRs have been lodged against any MC employees or FIRs are recommended by the MC against any persons.
