HYDERABAD: Keeping in view the assembly elections later in the year, director general of police Anjani Kumar has asked all commissioners and superintendents of police of all districts to be vigilant to ensure law and order in their areas.
The DGP said this to all unit heads on Friday who had come to city to attend the unveiling ceremony of BR Ambedkar's statue at NTR Marg.
"Various political parties will organise padayatras and meetings as elections approach and cops should be proactive. The work done by special branches is very important. Apart from sensitising protectees, cops should formulate new strategies to deal with the new challenges," the DGP's office said in a press release.
Lauding the village visits and community outreach programme carried out in February, the DGP said that these initiatives were appreciated in all the districts. Referring to cyber frauds, the DGP told the police officials to give more attention to the issue and take up awareness campaigns.
