Based on J.P. Pomare's best-selling thriller In the Clearing, Hulu's upcoming eight-part series The Clearing is a psychological thriller about one woman trying to stop a nightmarish cult that preys upon children. Before she can help anyone else, though, she must face her own past.

Starring Teresa Palmer, Miranda Otto, and Guy Pearce, The Clearing looks like the perfect amount of creepy, with plenty of identically dressed blonde children and tension-stirring strings accompanying flashbacks and lush Australian footage. (Pomare has said(Opens in a new tab) he drew inspiration for his novel from The Family cult(Opens in a new tab) in Victoria, Australia, which is where The Clearing was filmed.)

The Clearing premieres on Hulu May 24, with new episodes airing every Wednesday.
