Deputies release more information about Easter homicide

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's help in solving an Easter Sunday homicide.

Deputies have released photos of two men, who video footage shows arguing and pushing each other in front during a gathering at the Laday Arena in Cheek, according to Cpt. Crystal Holmes, with the Sheriff's Office. They are "persons of interest" in the homicide and a second shooting reported early Easter morning.

Both of the men were described as having "small builds." One of the men was shirtless and has a chest tattoo, while the other was wearing a dark colored jacket or hoodie.

Deputies previously reported two men were shot during the gathering -- 30-year-old Javoris Potier, of Houston, who was killed, and a 37-year-old man, who deputies have now reported was shot in the leg.

Deputies do not believe the shootings were related.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies were called around 1 a.m. to the arena around at 7400 Boyt Rd. after reports of shots fired, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Both men were taken to a local hospital, where Potier was pronounced dead.
