PATNA: Chief minister
Nitish Kumar on Friday said more than two lakh new appointments of teachers would be made in the state in the current year and his government would also enhance “income” of already employed (Niyojit) teachers across the state.
The state has nearly 4 lakh Niyojit teachers engaged by the panchayat raj institutions and the urban local bodies in the government-funded schools.
Addressing a function organised to commemorate
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at the state JD(U) office, Nitish said large scale teachers were appointed earlier by his government. But many of them now do not take interest in teaching the students. Now, all the seven allies of the Mahagathbandhan government have unanimously decided that whatever new appointments would be made in the state, all new appointees would be ‘government employees.’
He also said a big recruitment drive would be launched soon in the state.
“More than two lakh new appointments (of teachers) will be made this year. The teachers who are already working, will be allowed to continue at their posts. They will not only be allowed to continue, but we will also increase their ‘income’ (aamdani). But we will ask them to give quality education to students,” the CM said.
The CM also clarified that all new appointees would be considered as the state government employees. “The earlier appointees are not the state government employees. The panchayat raj institutions and the urban local bodies are spending money on their salaries,” he said.
Nitish also said that the service period of Tola Sewak, Talimi Markaj, Vikas Mitra and Shiksha Sewak has been increased to 60 years of age. “The government has also planned to increase their monthly income by assigning them more work,” the CM said.
