The casting of Dev Mohan as Dushyant appears to be a solid one. With the exception of a few brief passages, he delivered a solid performance. The job is undone by a few errors, though. The first is that some locations require more screen presence. The absence of nativity is the other. Locally well-known person would have made a stronger impression. Allu Arha's character, which sticks out and piques the audience's interest, is the next to draw attention.

In the dramatic moment, the child rocked the screen. During the periods of confrontation, she charmed and eloquently delivered her lines. Arha's confidence and presence on film make for enjoyable viewing. First and foremost, gunasekhar deserves praise for his efforts to make mythology more relatable to young people. Shaakuntalam is a proper love story, thus mounting it on such a big canvas is dangerous. By adding some action moments, he attempted to make it more marketable, but it didn't come off as forced.

Gunasekhar hence first had a decent concept. With the exception of one conflict, the small action scenes in the first half were decent, but the second half's war scene was a huge letdown. It would have been better if The Tyranny of the Asuras had been written with more precision, and the less said about the VFX, the better.
