Thiruvananthapuram:
BJP state leadership came out against CPM after it criticized
Church leaders for their pro-BJP remarks. Referring to an article published in CPM’s People’s Democracy, BJP state chief K Surendran said on Thursday that CPM should stop insulting Church heads.
“If CPM thinks it can stop Church leaders from expressing their thoughts, it is only an illusion. CPM is worried over the community’s reaction against religious appeasement, misrule by LDF government in state,” he said, alleging that Congress too was supporting the article in People’s Democracy to support religious fundamentalists.
Surendran said Christian persecution happened throughout LDF rule. “The LDF government created a situation that helped fundamentalists to chop the palm of Joseph. They had the gumption to attack Joseph during LDF’s rule. CPM stood by PFI workers when they rushed to the Pala Bishop’s house,” he said.
CPM’s mouthpiece accused BJP of fanning anti-Muslim feelings in Christian community for political gains. BJP, which is struggling to make headway in Kerala, has decided to turn to the Christian community , which constitutes 18% of the state’s population, it pointed out.
