The Spaniard will tee it up again for the RBC Heritage on Thursday morning as the tournament is one of the PGA Tour’s designated events.

A host of top names will look for glory around the famous Jack Nicklaus-designed course where Jordan Spieth is the current champion.

Spieth beat Patrick Cantlay in a play-off last season and will be looking to defend his title after a T4 finish at the Masters.

RBC Heritage: Date and how to follow

The RBC Heritage is being held between Thursday, April 13 and Sunday, April 16.

Play will begin at 12pm UK time for the opening two rounds.

It will be held at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

talkSPORT 2 will have live commentary of all four days from Beaufort County.

RBC Heritage: Field and tee times

This weekend’s event is another of the PGA Tour’s new elevated events meaning there will be a top class field in South Carolina.

As well as Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa and Viktor Hovland will all be in action.

Rory McIlroy has withdrawn from the tournament and no reason has been given for his absence.

Jason Day has pulled out due to injury while world number eight Will Zalatoris will miss the rest of the season after having back surgery.

LIV Golf players have not been invited to play the tournament.

Tee times and groupings for the opening two rounds were confirmed on Tuesday and can be found here.

RBC Heritage: What has been said?

Masters champion Rahm is targeting a ‘jacket double’ after resisting the temptation to withdraw from the RBC Heritage.

He said: “It did cross my mind, but I made a commitment earlier in the year and I want to honour that commitment.

“I put myself in the shoes of not only the spectators, but the kids as well. If I was one of the kids, I would want to see the recent Masters champion play good or bad, just want to be there.

“I still intend to hopefully do the jacket double and take this one home. But it did cross my mind (to withdraw) and obviously I think it would have crossed anybody’s because I was so tired.

“But that’s why I decided to come in Tuesday afternoon and take it easier and just give my body a rest before I got into competition mode.

“I can promise you that every time I tee it up in a tournament, it’s going to be to win. I intend to try my hardest to win.

“But I think it’s going to be opposite to most tournaments. I feel like I’m going to be feeling better every day.

“So I think it could be a little challenging early on, but if I can get through the first two days, I think on the weekend I’ll feel back to normal.”
