NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has ordered an inquiry against several officials with the land records department, including the officer on special duty, tehsildar, naib tehsildar, 'kanungo' and 'lekhpal' in charge of distributing a Rs 12 crore additional compensation to over 100 farmers in the Dhanauri and Bhatta villages.
Eight months have passed since the Authority passed an order to distribute the funds, but officials are yet to complete the task.
The matter came to light on Wednesday when a group of farmers from Dhanauri and Bhatta villages met CEO Arun Vir Singh and apprised him of the situation. They alleged that for the past eight months, they have been making rounds of the YEIDA office but to no avail.
Subsequently, the CEO directed additional CEO Monica Rani to carry out an inquiry and submit a report within three days. Disciplinary action may follow.
"This working style of employees and officers with the land records department reflects a worrying and unfortunate situation. The additional CEO should investigate the case and prepare a charge sheet against all the guilty-lekhpal, kanungo, naib tehsildar, tehsildar and officer on special duty-who have been looking into these files and send it to the revenue department within three working days so it can take strict action," read his order.
The CEO also gave instructions to disburse compensation to the farmers without any further delays.
Earlier, the Authority issued orders to give additional compensation to 89 farmers in Dhanauri and 19 farmers in Bhatta village, where it has acquired land for various projects.
Sources said a letter would be sent against the guilty officers to the government because some of them are not accepting their fault and allegedly said they should be relieved instead.
