With Eid ul Fitr just a week away, shopkeepers in Kashmir's commercial hub of Lal Chowk are counting their losses as business has slumped due to ongoing construction works in Srinagar under the Smart City Project.Shopkeepers say that dates and other Ramzan specialities like 'sewaiyyan' would sell like hot cakes, but this year the sales have been badly affected.According to shop owners and street vendors better planning by the authorities could have prevented, or at least mitigated the pain being felt by businesses.Shopkeepers also said that dust and pollution due to the construction work is adversely affecting the health of many of them.
