Teacher, 57, rapes 12-yr-old student

Nagpur: A 57-year-old teacher raped a 12-year-old student after taking her to the school’s laboratory. Sakkardara police have registered a case and arrested the teacher Sanjay Pandey, a resident of Kamgar Nagar.
Police said the survivor is a Std VI student and Pandey is a mathematics teacher in the same school.
On December 10, 2022, after school, Pandey took the girl to the school’s laboratory, where he allegedly raped her. After committing the heinous crime, Pandey threatened the victim to fail her if she revealed the incident to anyone including her parents. So, the student was forced to keep mum, said the police.
“On April 5, he again took her to the school’s laboratory and raped her. The shocking incident came to light after the girl complained about stomachache to her mother. When questioned, the minor girl told her mother that Pandey had been exploiting her,” the police said.
Later, the victim’s mother approached Sakkardara police station and lodged a complaint. The police registered a case under various sections including rape and arrested Pandey. Police have obtained Pandey’s custody remand to investigate whether he had exploited other school students or not.
“Preliminary probe revealed that Pandey was married and has one daughter, who too got married in 2022,” said senior police inspector from Sakkardara police station Dhananjay Patil. The police obtained his custody remand from the district court till April 15, said the senior PI.
