SHIVAMOGGA: Senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa on Wednesday disapproved of his daughter Raja Nandini joining BJP, calling it unfortunate. “She has backstabbed me,” Thimmappa said in Shivamogga. “I’m a politician with a set of principles, which I have followed all through my political career.

When I heard that my daughter had approached BJP functionaries to join the saffron party, I was hurt. As the daughter of a true Congressman, she should not have done it.” The senior Congress functionary accused BJP counterparts, including former minister and MLA Harathalu Halappa, of hatching a plot to lure her into the saffron party fold.
“I will try to convince her (to return),” he said. Kagodu said he had urged AICC chief Mallikarjuna Kharge to give his daughter the Sagar (Shivamogga) ticket, “but the party chose former MLA Belur Gopalkrishna” which left Nandini miffed.
