Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly stabbed with scissors by a stranger in Surry Hills.

The incident occurred on Devonshire Street just before 10.25pm on Thursday.

The 28-year-old alleged victim was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives have described the man as Caucasian, of thin build and wearing a fluorescent orange jumper.
