Bokaro: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has commissioned a gas collecting station (GCS) in Khudgaraha village in Gomia block of the district. It is the first gas collecting-cum-gas compression station of the company aimed at bringing ONGC on the Coal Bed Methane (CBM) map of the country as a bulk producer.
GCS-Bokaro is a major production installation in patch-A of Bokaro CBM block of ONGC – IOCL joint venture (participating interest: 80:20) with ONGC as the JV operator, said Rajeev Prasad, chief of communication, ONGC, Bokaro.
The ONGC CBM Asset conceptualized the GCS-Bokaro project which includes the construction of well site facilities and pipeline network for connecting the wells to the installation.
The contract for the project's execution was awarded to a consortium consisting of Tata Projects Limited and Corrtech International Pvt Ltd by OES, Delhi.
Prasad said the project's total cost is approximately 441 crore. It is the first of its kind CBM Field Development Project being carried out by the Asset.
The CBM Asset has already signed a tie-in agreement with GAIL to provide pipeline connectivity with its Urja Ganga Pipeline for the sale of gas from the installation.
Additionally, corporate marketing has facilitated the signing of gas sales agreements (GSAs) by the Asset with five gas customers.
Around 113 wells will produce CBM gas which will be transported through 13 trunk-lines.
ONGC operates in three areas in Jharkhand including Parbatpur in Chandankyari block, Gomia block in Bokaro, and Badkagaon in Hazaribagh. GAIL, under The Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga Project, has installed a 20km pipeline to the Gomia ONGC project and a 6km pipeline to Parbatpur to facilitate CBM supply to consumers.
ONGC is investing over 5,000 crore in Jharkhand and West Bengal to develop CBM gas blocks.
