SR collects 115cr from ticketless passengers

Salem: The Southern Railway has collected 115 crore fine from the passengers travelling without valid tickets in the 2022-23 financial year.
An official with the Salem railway division said the amount collected as fine was all-time high in the last fiscal.
The Southern Railway has special squads with the Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Salem, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram divisions to check for passengers travelling without a ticket.
It also uses special squads with its headquarters, Nilgiris Mountain Railway and Coonoor railway.
