Former UC Bearcat Jeremiah Davenport finds new basketball home at Arkansas

Jeremiah Davenport, a 6-foot-7-inch four-year player for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats will finish off his college eligibility at Arkansas according to his social media accounts Thursday.

Jeremiah Davenport, a 6-foot-7-inch four-year player for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats will finish his college eligibility at Arkansas according to his social media accounts displayed Thursday.

Via Twitter and Instagram, Davenport wrote:

"Leaving it up to God, as always. Razorback nation, let's rock!"

Largely as UC's sixth man after Jan. 1, Davenport had a high game of 22 points in his first game off the bench at Wichita State. He averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds and made the 1,000-point club by finishing his Bearcat career with 1,060 and a 9.7 overall scoring average.

He was the team's second-leading scorer as a junior at 13.4 per game and led Wes Miller's first squad in rebounding at 5.5 per game. His first two seasons came under John Brannen where he averaged 11.7 points and five rebounds as a sophomore.

Brannen recruited Davenport out of Hargrave Military Academy where he spent a year after finishing a stellar career at Moeller High School, culminating in a state title in 2018. Davenport was the Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year, the Greater Catholic South Co-Player of the Year and All-Ohio Third Team averaging 15.7 points and 6.2 rebounds on a team that also featured future NBA players Miles McBride and Jaxson Hayes.

Davenport announced he was leaving Cincinnati just last week. His high school coach Carl Kremer of Moeller fielded numerous calls from top-level programs.

Last week, UC coach Wes Miller praised Davenport for the two years he coached him.

"For the last four years, Jeremiah has worn the Bearcat uniform with passion and pride. Although we'll miss him, we wish him well as he pursues his last year of eligibility elsewhere. A Cincinnati native that cares deeply about this community and this program, JD will always be a Bearcat."

Arkansas was 22-14 this past season and 8-10 in the SEC. They have had four consecutive 20-plus win seasons under Eric Musselman.
