Three Northern Kentucky basketball players named 1st team all-state by Courier-Journal

The Louisville Courier-Journal has released its boys and girls basketball all-state teams. Each year, the lists are curated by Jason Frakes, and are a result of a statewide coaches ballot. This year, 110 boys ballots and 87 girls ballots were cast.
For the 2022-2023 season, three players from Northern Kentucky schools made the all-state first team, while an additional eight players were voted to the second team, third team, or honorable mention.

Evan Ipsaro, Covington Catholic
Ipsaro made the most of his three years in Park Hills, being named to the Courier-Journal's all-state first team in 2022 and 2023.
After transferring from New Richmond, Ipsaro became an instant option for the Colonels, leading them to a Ninth Region title and the KHSAA state semifinals as a junior. This year, he led the team in scoring (25.2) and rebounding (4.8).
In his final game as a Colonel, he became the second-leading scorer in program history, scoring 1,987 points in three seasons.
Jacob Meyer, Holy Cross
Meyer caps off an illustrious career as the fourth-leading vote getter on the boys team.
This season, he led the Indians in scoring (36.8) and free throw percentage (83.5%), and was second in rebounding (8.4) and shooting from the field (54.8%). His 1,067 points were second in the state. He was the Ninth Region Co-Player of the Year and a finalist for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball award.
In his career, Meyer scored a Ninth Region record 3,280 points, breaking the previous record on his senior night. He was on the Courier-Journal's all-state second team in 2022.
Whitney Lind, Cooper
Like Ipsaro, Lind is making her second appearance on the all-state team. Last year, she was on the second team after leading the Jaguars to the state semifinals.
This year, she averaged 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds, and shot 54% from the field. All three stats led the team as the Jaguars won back-to-back Ninth Region titles before falling to Mercy in the first round of the KHSAA Sweet 16.
Lind led the Jaguars in scoring five years in a row, totaling 2,267 points. She also grabbed 999 rebounds in her high school career.
