Greater Noida residents complain about overhead cables on streetlights, overflowing sewers
The residents also complained about overflowing sewer in front of GM Mall in Jagar Farm since early Wednesday morning.
NOIDA: Residents of Greater Noida on Wednesday complained of loosely hanging wires from streetlight poles, especially in sectors Beta 1 and 2, Alpha and Gamma. They have also complained about overflowing sewers in Sector 3 and near GM Mall in Jagat Farm.
“One-and-a-half-years ago, the tender for the streetlight in Sector Beta 1 was awarded to Surya company. Why are the wires tied to the streetlight poles on top, when there is provision for underground cable connection?” said Harinder Bhati, a resident of Sector Benta 1.
Residents fear major mishaps due to the cables jutting out from the panel box of the streetlights. “This is a common sight in other sectors of Greater Noida including Alpha, Gamma and Delta. I have requested the authority to cover the panel box and fix the cables as pedestrians can meet with accidents. The complaints are still pending,” added Bhati.
The residents also complained about overflowing sewer in front of GM Mall in Jagar Farm since early Wednesday morning.
“Jagat Farm is a major commercial hub of Greater Noida. Apart from the encroachment, sanitation is a major issue here. Often the sewer lines are clogged resulting in overflow. There is foul smell and mosquito breeding everywhere,” said Bhati.
Chet Ram, senior manager of work circle 3, GNIDA, told TOI that the sewer problem has been addressed in Jagat Farm and plans to install small sump pumps at different locations. "The estimate is under process," added Singh.
Meanwhile, Gurvinder Singh senior manager electrical and maintenance (E&M) department GNIDA said "Complaint has been forwarded to the concerned contractor company and work to fix it is under way."
