Transport company manager thrashed with iron rods on suspicion of theft in UP's Shahjahanpur, dies

BAREILLY: Four employees of a transport company were tortured on suspicion of theft and one of them, manager Shivam Jauhari alias Anshul (33), died of injuries before getting medical attention in UP’s Shahjahanpur.
A day after this incident, a video surfaced on social media wherein the owner of the transport company and few others were purportedly seen thrashing Anshul, who was tied to a pole, with iron rods. The survivor of the incident said that they were kept in a water pool and electrocuted to accept the guilt. Police have registered an FIR against 7 people and have arrested five of them so far.
Anshul used to work for Bankim Suri at his transport company and recently two cartons from the consignment of Kanhaiya hosiery had gone missing. On suspicion of theft, Anshul and three other employees of the transport company were called at the godown on Tuesday and were beaten mercilessly by Neeraj Gupta, owner of Kanhaiya hosiery, Bankim Suri and others.
Their torture stopped when Anshul fell unconscious and his pulse went missing. He was rushed to the hospital and his family was informed by Suri’s driver about his condition. When Anshul’s father Adhish Jauhari reached hospital he found that his son’s body was lying unattended. Immediately police were informed and the body was sent for autopsy.
The aggrieved father said, “They had crossed all the limits of brutality on my son and he died. He had served for seven years and there was never a complaint against him. He was supposed to get married. I want strict action against all the people responsible for my son’s death.”
SSP Shahjahanpur S Anand said, “After getting information about Anshul’s murder, we found out the other people beaten on suspicion of theft and sent them for medical examination. They are also the eye witnesses of the murder. We have registered an FIR against the owner of Kanhaiya hosiery and Suri transport company and their aides under sections of murder and have detained five people so far. The autopsy confirmed that there were multiple bruises on Anshul’s body and he died of ante-mortem injuries. We will ensure strict action against the accused."
