Jaipur: Three unidentified men robbed Rs 10 lakh from a property dealer in Shastri Nagar on Wednesday evening. The incident took place shortly after 8 pm when Ashok Kumar Agarwal stepped out of his car and was about to enter his home with a bag carrying cash.
Two suspects first tried to snatch the bag from Agarwal. They then attacked him with a rod. Agarwal fell to the ground as two of them robbed the bag. The third suspect soon arrived on a bike and the trio fled. The property dealer was taken to the hospital because he had sustained some injuries in the robbery. A team from the Shastri Nagar police station soon reached the spot.
A senior official informed TOI that an intensive search operation was underway to track down suspects.
“The accused had covered their faces with helmets,” the official said, adding that another team was examining CCTVs around the Shastri Nagar area.
Different police teams fanned out in multiple directions but the accused remained at large. “The property dealer has an office near Vatika in Sanganer. He was travelling home in his car which was driven by his driver,” the official added.
The primary investigation indicates that the robbers knew that Agarwal was travelling with a huge amount of cash.
“We suspect that robbers were waiting near Agarwal’s house. They saw his car moving in and waylaid almost immediately when Agarwal moved out of his car,” the official said.
Police said that all station house officers (SHOs) have been directed to keep a close watch on all suspects in their areas. “We have also asked our teams to scan CCTVs around Shastri Nagar because we also suspect that a long planning preceded the robbery,” the official added.
