24x7 reading hall for vet varsity students
Ludhiana: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu) on Wednesday inaugurated a 24-hour reading hall for its students and faculty, next to the varsity library.
Named after Gadvasu alumnus Dr Jasmer Singh — who founded the College of Veterinary Science and retired as head of department of vet parasitology in 2004 — the hall was inaugurated by his son Dr Rajdeep Singh, also a varsity alumnus. A leading private practitioner in California, Rajdeep donated Rs 50 lakh for the reading hall, which will remain open all day long.
University librarian T S Rai thanked the varsity management for opening this hall, and added that many students had demanded the facility. Former faculty member Dev Raj Sharma, also donated Rs 1 lakh for the varsity library.
