PATNA: A local Bhim Army leader Rakesh Paswan was shot dead by miscreants at his home in Panchdamiya village under Lalganj police station in Vaishali district on Thursday evening.
Heavy police force was deployed in the village as the situation became intense post this murder.
Paswan in his late 30’s had earlier served as the Vaishali district president of Bhim Army and was an active leader at local level. Bhim army state convener Amar Jyoti while talking to TOI said Paswan was at his home when the miscreants touched his feet and then pumped bullets in his body. "He was an active party leader and our great asset,” said Jyoti who was on the way to Paswan’s village.
Sources said four people had come to meet Paswan at his home and then shot multiple times. He was rushed to the Sadar hospital, where he was declared dead. “The family protested against the post-mortem and took his body back to the village from hospital,” said a local. The postmortem could not be conducted till the filing of this report late evening and police and local administration was trying to convince the family.
When asked if anyone had been detained in this murder case, ADG (headquarter) JS Gangwar said the superintendent of police was working on this case and investigation was in the preliminary stage.
