KALABURAGI: BJP’s wish to discourage dynasty politics has gone for a toss in Kalaburagi district with tickets being given to the sons of an MP and an MLC. This was the case in 2018 too.
Kalaburagi’s BJP MP Umesh Jadhav’s son Avinash Jadhav got the ticket to contest from Chincholi segment, and BJP MLC BG Patil’s son Chandu Patil got it for the Kalaburagi (North) segment.
In Vijayanagara, minister Anand Singh opted out of the race, but ensured a ticket for his son. Chandu and Avinash Jadhav were given tickets on earlier occasions too. Chandu Patil had lost against Congress candidate Kaneez Fathima with a small margin of votes in 2018, while Avinash won in Chincholi byelection necessitated by his father’s election as an MP on a BJP ticket.
