Theth gang did not seek ₹6 crore from woman: Cops
Jaipur: Almost six days after a woman in Jaipur alleged that aides of the slain gangster Raju Theth asked her to pay an extortion of Rs 6 crore, the police said on Wednesday that the woman had concocted the story.
As per a senior official, the woman, who runs a college, on April 7 had filed a complaint at the Vaishali Nagar police station wherein she alleged that two men visited her and asked her to pay Rs 6 crore as part of a pact she had with Theth before he was murdered last year.
Police examined the case and identified two men who reportedly visited the complainant’s house that day.
“We called the two men for questioning. We found that there was some kind of a dispute over the college’s land. The two men had come for a negotiation to discuss a possible compromise,” said an official.
“We probed the role of the two men, but they were not found to be associated with Theth gang in any manner. We have not found anything to corroborate that they had threatened the woman for extortion,” the official added.
Police said that they are still investigating the case, but they have not come across anything to suggest the involvement of Theht’s men. TNN
