Mysuru: All India Fact Finding Team alleges violations of adivasi rights in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. The activists called for immediate measures to uphold rights of adivasis as per the law.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Wednesday, committee members, and adivasi representatives raised voice against the atrocities committed against the tribals inside the forest.
A six-member committee of activists, academics, researchers undertook a four-day visit to Nagarahole Tiger Reserve area between April 8 and 11 responding to the call of Community Networks Against Protected Areas (CNAPA) and Nagarahole Adivasi Jammapale Hakku Sthapana Samiti (NAJHSS). The fact-finding team (FF) came to understand the status of compliance with various laws as well as the situation of adivasis in the “protected areas” and resettlement sites. The team interacted with many villagers at multiple locations and met with officials.
One of the members of the panel, Kamal Gopinath said that the committee will move court with contempt case for violating the rights of adivasis and violating various court directions with regard to their upliftment.
