Kamathipura: Red-light precinct about to shed its notoriety. Survey for redevelopment starts

MUMBAI: Mhada has begun a survey of Kamathipura for its redevelopment plan. An architect has been appointed for each of the area’s 15 bylanes, to measure every tenement and plot.

The roadmap
Kamathipura Punarvikas Samiti had approached the government asking it to appoint Mhada (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority) as the nodal agency for redevelopment.

In January, the government issued a resolution for the redevelopment of Kamathipura with Mhada as nodal agency.
