GURGAON: A 25-year-old labourer died and five others suffered minor injuries when a mini-truck they were travelling in went out of control after its tyre got deflated and rammed a divider near Dhankot village on the KMP Expressway on Tuesday. Police said the truck driver fled the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Masudul, a resident of Jahangirpuri.
"My son worked as a cleaner for the truck and he usually went with the driver during the loading and unloading. On Tuesday, he was travelling towards Dhankot village for work purposes. The mini-truck driver took the KMP Expressway to reach Dhankot and the driver was speeding. Suddenly, the front tyre got deflated and the driver lost control and hit a divider. My son fell outside the vehicle and due to the impact, died on the spot. Some other passengers who also worked as labourers were injured," his father Mehmood told Farrukhnagar police.
Police received information about the accident on their distress number, and a team soon reached the spot. "We rushed the injured to the government hospital and handed over Masudul's body to his family," said a police officer.
Based on a complaint filed by his father, police have booked the mini-truck driver under IPC sections 279 (whoever drives any vehicle or rides on any public way in a manner so rash or negligent as to endanger human life or to be likely to cause hurt or injury to any other person) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).
