Distribution of forms to be completed in 3 days: DC
Mangaluru: Deputy commissioner Ravi Kumar MR said that the district administration has so far distributed 12D forms to 84 % of 80+ and PwD voters. The distribution of forms will be completed within three days, the DC told reporters here on Wednesday.
With the Election Commission allowing postal ballots for those aged above 80, and for persons with disabilities, the officials are reaching out to them with 12D forms to help them vote from home. The district has a total of 60,934 voters aged above 80 and PWD voters. There are 38,294 voters aged above 80, 8,102 voters aged above 90, and 531 centenarians. It has 14,007 PWD voters.
As on April 12, the district has a total of 17,68,031 voters, which include 9,03,068 female voters and 78 transgender voters. The district has a total of 37,292 young voters and Bantwal has highest of 5,266 youth voters in the age group 18-19 yrs.
The DC said that election photo identity cards will be printed for the newly enrolled voters from April 20 and will be dispatched through speed post from April 21. Already, 82,503 EPICs have been generated in one month. Undelivered speed posts will be collected by the returning officers and will be delivered to the voters through BLOs
Meanwhile, as per the statistics released, flying squad teams have seized Rs 10.53 lakh in cash, static surveillance teams have seized Rs 1.57 crore and the police have seized Rs 1.38 lakh in cash between March 29 and April 11. Of the seized cash, Rs 5 lakh seized by the SST have been released after verification while Rs 1.38 lakh was released by the police after verification. The remaining seized cash is deposited in the treasury. A total of 1138.835 litre liquor worth Rs 4.41 lakh, narcotics/psychotropic substances worth Rs 8.29 lakh and campaign materials worth Rs 19.25 lakh were also seized.
