‘Man found dead in village died of drug overdose’
Ludhiana: A 27-year-old man who was found dead at Kakka village of Meharban area on April 9 had died of drug overdose, his autopsy report confirmed on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Honey, a 27-yea-old resident of Khwajke village, who used to work as an air-conditioner mechanic. Meharban police have lodged an FIR against a resident of Moti Nagar area, Vishal, under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC. Honey’s father Ajay Kumar said that he was home on April 8 at around 10pm when his son’s friend Vishal came home. He said Vishal asked Honey to accompany him saying that his brother had met with an accident at Tajpur road. Honey went with him but did not return. The complainant kept calling him but got no response. The next morning, Honey was found dead near Kakka village. Inspector Davinder Singh, SHO at Meharban police station said that Honey’s father alleged that Vishal gave him some drugs, which caused his death. Doctors of the civil hospital confirmed that Honey had died of a drug overdose. The doctor also said that old marks of injections had been found on the body. tnn
