AIZAWL: The special PMLA court in Aizawl on Tuesday convicted Lalsawmzuala, the former chief executive officer (CEO) of the
Mizoram Khaki and Village Industries Board (MKVIB), in a corruption case and reserved the quantum of punishment, which will be pronounced on Wednesday.
Lalsawmzuala, the longest-serving CEO of the MKVIB was convicted by special judge HTC Lalrinchhana under sections 409 and 447A of the IPC.
In his order, the special judge said the bail and bond of the former officer stands cancelled and the liability of his surety was also discharged. "The convicted accused shall therefore be remanded in judicial custody till 12/4/2023 for the sentencing," the judge ruled.
The order said the accused manipulated and corrupted the National Bee Keeping Fund sanctioned by the Union ministry of agriculture amounting to Rs 86,24,080 between 1993 and 2005 to the MKVIB.
