Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena will contest elections and soon launch an outreach program in ally BJP-ruled Goa, a senior leader of the party said on Tuesday.

Shiv Sena leader Anandrao Adsul told newsmen said that in the past, the undivided Shiv Sena lacked conviction when it contested the elections in the coastal state and the party needs to work at grassroots level to expand their base in the BJP-ruled state.

Adsul said the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) will fight the next Goa elections “with conviction” and a new beginning but before that happens, Goa residents need to be convinced that they (Shiv Sena) are here to work for them and thus an outreach program will soon be launched to revamp the party’s image in the state.

The Sena leader said that several local leaders have shown interest to join the Shiv Sena.

The former MP alleged that in the past, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut and others who were named in-charge of party affairs in Goa, were allegedly influenced monetary considerations while giving poll tickets to candidates in the state.

Sanjay Raut or any other leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT) had not responded to Adsul’s allegations when this report was filed.

In related news, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, last week alleged that the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government is running the state like the notorious Mumbai underworld of yesteryears.

Talking to reporters, Sanjay Raut, a close associate of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleged that criminals and the corrupt are being protected and shielded by the government.

Raut also claimed that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis are “running their gangs” like how the underworld used to operate from pockets of Thane and Mumbai during those infamous years.
