Coventry police ID pair shot Tuesday, 1 of them fatally
The Coventry police have released the names of two people found shot, one of them fatally, in their Coventry home on Tuesday.
The police on Wednesday morning said detectives are investigating the shooting as suspicious. In a press release Tuesday night, the police said they responded to the house at 5 Mulberry Court for the report of an accidental shooting.
The person killed was identified as Linda Beckman, 60, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Coventry firefighters.
The other person was identified as James Beckman, 61. He was taken to Kent Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital, the police said.
The police did not say whether they were married.
Two dogs at the residence were also found dead.
"This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public," the police said.
