KRRS to field one farmer from each dist

Belagavi: We are ready to field one candidate in each district from the farmers community if national and local political parties support and unanimously elect farmers, said Prakash Naik of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene.
Speaking here on Tuesday, the farmer leader urged Congress, BJP and JD(S) leaders to support farmers’ representation in the assembly. Speaking at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan, Naik said, “All parties have neglected the farmers community in Karnataka. For the sake of financial security and agricultural development, farmers representation in the assembly is essential. Now, it is very difficult for farmers’ organisations to contest in elections and win. Political parties are stating that they have concerns for famers. But the situation is otherwise. We hope that if 30 farmers representatives are elected, they will work for and with farmers.”
KRRS along with representatives of other farmers’ organisation will meet leaders of the three major parties in two days, he added. “We have differences, but are one when it comes to having farmers’ representation in the assembly,” he said. Farmer leaders were present.
