Jaipur: A 23-year-old man killed his three-year-old son and hanged him from a tree late on Monday in Sirohi. Later, the man committed suicide by hanging himself from the same tree. The matter came to light when locals saw two bodies hanging from the tree.
According to police, the man was living with his in-laws and there was a dispute between them over daily wages. “It was found that the deceased identified as Kana Ram got married to Champa Devi four years ago. The couple had two sons.
Ram was staying with his in-laws and was working in farms to earn daily wages. It was found that Ram was also doing farming work at his in-laws and in lieu of that he was paid regular wages. However, for a long time, he was not getting wages and this was the reason there was a dispute between them,” said a senior police officer of Reodar police station on Tuesday.
The brother of the deceased has lodged a case of abetment of suicide against the wife of his brother and her other family members.
“He has alleged that Ram wanted to get some money as his daily wages from his in-laws and they were giving him life threat. It appears that the man first strangulated his son, hanged him from a tree and later ended his own life by hanging from the tree,” the officer added.
Police have registered a case and initiated investigations into the matter.
