Cincinnati weather: Beautiful conditions continue, also warnings of risk of fire danger
Warm and sunny weather continues this week, with beautiful conditions bringing a spring bloom into the region. And while the sunshine will last through Friday, showers are in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington is also warning of the potential for an elevated risk of fire danger on Wednesday. The weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook through Wednesday afternoon. The outlook is for areas in East Central and Southeast Indiana; Northeast and Northern Kentucky and Central, South Central, Southwest and West Central Ohio.
What is a fire weather watch?
A fire weather watch is issued when weather conditions, such as strong winds, low humidity and dry conditions, are likely to promote the rapid spread of fires. Burning fires outside is not recommended during a fire weather watch.
Areas under a fire weather watch, especially those with lots of wild vegetation, also called dry fuels, are susceptible to rapid fire spread. Fire weather watches mean critical fire weather conditions are possible, but not imminent or currently occurring.
What is a red flag warning?
A red flag warning is issued after a fire weather watch and means fire weather is currently ongoing or expected to happen soon.
