Man murders father in drunken brawl, lodged in prison

Coimbatore: The Pollachi east police on Monday arrested a 40-year-old man for murdering his father.
Police said N Senthilkumar, 40, a mason, had been staying with his father V Nataraj, 73, at Kamaraj Nagar in Pollachi after he got separated from his wife a few years ago.
“The father-son duo used to consume liquor together and involve in petty squabbles. On Sunday evening, both got drunk. Senthilkumar demanded money from his father to buy more alcohol. But when his father refused, Senthilkumar started a quarrel. In a fit of rage, Senthilkumar assaulted his father with a wooden log and Nataraj suffered injuries on his head. Neighbours pacified both of them and informed 108 ambulance services. However, when paramedical staff rushed to the spot and checked Nataraj, he was dead,” said a police officer.
The body was taken to the Government Medical College & ESI Hospital for a postmortem.
Police registered a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, and arrested Senthilkumar on Monday evening. He was remanded in judicial custody.
