Vadodara: An assistant engineer posted in the roads and buildings department in Chhota Udepur district was detained by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday. Harish Chaudhary was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a contractor.
According to the ACB officials, the complainant had completed work of a slab over a drain in Naswadi taluka. His bill of Rs 1.20 crore was passed. Chaudhary demanded Rs 10 lakh from the complainant who later paid Rs 2 lakh. Chaudhary, however, kept demanding the remaining amount but the complainant wasn’t willing to pay it.
The complainant then approached the ACB that laid the trap and nabbed Chaudhary. He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
