What happened in the market today? Sula Vineyards to Nestle - top gainers to top losers - let's take a look at today's market highlights
-BSE and NSE closed higher for the 8th consecutive session
-The indices were mainly led by HDFC twins, infosys, icici bank and reliance
-Sensex surged 235 pts closed at 60,392
-Nifty ended at 17812
Coming to today's gainers and losers
Infosys, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra and HDFC were the top gainers, rising over 1% each. On the other hand, Power Grid, NTPC, Nestle, UltraTech Cement, ITC and HUL ended in the red.
The stock that stood out today was Divi's Labs - it closed 10% higher due to strong export sales in March. Sula also ended 9% higher after a jump of 30% in overall sales in FY23.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Healthcare Index surged 2.55% and Nifty Pharma rose 2.23%. Nifty IT and Nifty Auto also closed higher. In the broader market, Nifty Midcap50 gained 0.45% and Smallcap50 advanced 0.53%.
EXPERT VIEW
Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities said, "Nifty remained volatile during the day, with a predominately bullish bias. The market will remain a buy on dips as long as the index remains above 17700. On the higher end, the rally may extend towards 17900/17970."
Now coming to global markets
Asian shares rose. Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.57% - Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost 0.86% -- Shanghai Composite index rose 0.41%
Coming to Rupee
Rupee held a narrow range against the US dollar and finished at 82.0775 per dollar. Lastly, oil prices steadied as the market waited for US inflation data which is due today. Brent crude rose 0.2% while US WTI rose 0.1%.
