Guwahati: A three-member lawyers’ delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Punjab, led by senior advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, on Monday met the eight ‘Waris Punjab De’ members, slapped with the NSA, in the Dibrugarh jail.
The lawyers’ team comprising Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Mandeep Singh Sidhu and
Rohit Sharma, assisted by Senior Advocate from Dibrugarh Samir Kumar Todi met the prisoners in the jail.
Senior advocate Todi has been appointed by the Dibrugarh District Legal Service Authority as the Legal Aid Counsel for the eight ‘Waris Punjab De’ members. On Tuesday, he said the cases of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ members are being pursued by the legal expert team from Punjab and they have already started working after reaching Dibrugarh.
“The lawyers’ team from Punjab are providing legal aid to the ‘Waris Punjab De’ members. Yesterday, they met the eight members in Dibrugarh prison. The jail administration has provided the detention orders of the imprisoned persons and other necessary documents to the legal team,” Todi said.
