Communal clashes in Chhattisgarh: Dad, son found dead
At the village gripped by communal tension
RAIPUR: Amid the simmering communal tension in Chhattisgarh's Bemetara, a father and son were found dead on Wednesday, around 5km from Biranpur village, which has been the epicentre of the violence since last Saturday, reports Rashmi Drolia.
Coming a day after a statewide bandh against the killing of a 23-year-old on April 8, the two suspected murders have added to the tension in the area. Biranpur and its vicinity have been turned into a fortress by police. Nearly 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in Biranpur - one cop per villager - and hundreds more in the surrounding areas, where Section 144 is in force. All roads to the village are being watched by police, streets have been barricaded and internet services barred.
Police named the father-son duo as Biranpur natives Rahim Mohammad (55) and Idul (34). Their bodies were found less than 1km from a hut that was set ablaze during the bandh on Monday.
