The Nifty Pharma index closed 2.23 per cent up at 12574.2.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 90.1 points at 17812.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 235.05 points at 60392.77.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 0 ended in the green, while 0 closed in the red.
Shares of Reliance Power, YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Suzlon Energy and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of National Fert, Aarti Surfactants(PP), Srivasavi Adhesive Tapes Ltd., Vardhman Poly and Technocraft Ind hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SVP Global, Nirman Agri Genetics, Seya Industries, Jalan Transolutions and Sanco Industries hit their fresh 52-week lows.
